Paper craft project no. 52: Season’s greetings

2013-09-09 CAS Seasons Greetings

Here’s an A7 card that I made this morning to start off the week. I ran a piece of white cardstock through my Cuttlebug with the top note die, then I placed the die cut in an embossing folder (poinsettia) and ran it through my Cuttlebug again. I cut it in half and sponged it with barn door distress ink and rubbed the surface a little with sandpaper. It fits a few challenges: Inkspirational Color Inkspiration Challenge #36 (colors: red, dark yellow, and powder blue), CAS(E) This Sketch #44, Make It Monday #157 Anything Goes, and SSS Monday Challenge: Embossed.

Stamps: sentiment (STAMPlorations)
Inks: tuxedo black (Tsukineko); barn door (Tim Holtz Distress ink)
Other: textured cardstock (DCWV); top note and scallop edge dies, embossing folder (Sizzix); Cuttlebug; paper brads (Candi); glue dots; sandpaper

By the way, I am hosting a holiday papercrafting challenge on my other blog. I’m giving away a prize package of 7 holiday clear stamp sets to the winner. The challenge runs until September 22. Any kind of papercrafting project is welcome — cards, tags, scrapbook/album covers, home decor. I would love for you to be there!

Hope you all have a great week. Thanks for stopping by :-)

One Layer Card No. 48: Kindness

2013-09-01 One Layer Card Kindness
All weekend I’ve been playing with my Distress markers. Here’s a one layer card where I used the markers to create a watercolor effect. I took one of my acrylic blocks, swiped 7 different Distress markers colors to create a sort of ombre effect, spritzed a little water on the block, and then stamped the block on my card, moving the block from right to left to drag the colors. (I know, it should be left to right, but I’m left-handed! ;-)) Love the effect! Next, I stamped the background script, followed by the silhouette flower rubber stamp (which I stamped a second time without re-inking to create a shadow), and then finally stamped the sentiment.

I’m entering this card to the following challenges: Tuesday Trigger: Honoring Ombre at the Moxie Fab World blog; One Layer Wednesday Challenge #155: Silhouettes; Less is More Week #135 (use a rubber stamp and optional watercolors); and Simon Says Wednesday Challenge Blog – Anything Goes.

Stamps: sentiment (Stampendous); background script (OTC); flower silhouette (Stampin’ Up)
Inks: coffee (Ranger Archival ink); forest moss, peeled paint, crushed olive, shabby shutters, mustard seed, spiced marmalade, wild honey (Tim Holtz Distress markers); tuxedo black (Tsukineko)

And before I end today’s post, I’m inviting all papercrafters. On September 6, I’ve got a holiday papercrafting challenge starting at the STAMPlorations™ blog. One crafter is going to win all 7 holiday stamp sets (60+ individual clear stamps) that I designed for the STAMPlorations™ line. I’ll have all the details there on September 6 at 5pm PST so please visit and bookmark the site or follow/subscribe by email.

Holiday Tags No. 47: Holiday wishes, be merry, holiday cheer

2013-08-31 Holiday Tags-A
Stamps: sentiments, Christmas trees (STAMPlorations); newspaper background, mistletoe (Hero Arts); December 25 tag (Inkadinkado); diamond background (Stampin’ Up), doily (Darcie’s)
Inks: emerald green, sienna (Ranger Archival ink); vintage photo, crushed olive, peeled paint, barn door (Tim Holtz Distress inks); tuxedo black (Tsukineko)
Other: ribbon trims (Offray); ATC die cuts (Sizzix); embossing ink (Ranger); gold embossing powder (Stampendous); heat tool (Inkssentials); curly label punch (Stampin’ Up); jute twine; We R Memory Keepers crop-a-dile

I created these tags for the Holiday Gift Tag Challenge in the Moxie Fab World and in Simon Says Wednesday Challenge Blog – Anything Goes. I had a few tag dies but I thought I’d use the ATC die (2.5″ by 3.5″) because I wanted tags that are a little wider than usual. (And besides, my ATC die is new and I wanted to use it right away!) For the sentiments and Christmas tree images, I used  stamps from my STAMPlorations™ line. In a couple of weeks, 7 holiday clear stamp sets that I designed will be available on the STAMPlorations™ website and my Etsy shop. And on September 6, I’ve got a holiday papercrafting challenge starting at the STAMPlorations™ blog. One crafter is going to win all 7 sets (60+ individual clear stamps). Interested? Please join other papercrafters by visiting the blog — I’ll have all the details there on September 6!

One Layer Card No. 43: You are my happy

2013-08-24 One Layer Card You are my happy
Friday I received the samples for the holiday clear stamps that I designed for my STAMPlorations line of stamps. So what better way to spend the weekend than to take these stamps for a test drive? For this A2 card, I used the stamps in the Holiday Artsy set (available on the STAMPlorations website and my Etsy shop beginning September). They’re the perfect stamps to use the Hero Arts neon ink pads I bought last week. I also based the layout of this one layer card on the CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge #42, with some modification (sketch below).

Stamps: brush stroke, stains, text box, sentiment (STAMPlorations)
Inks: tuxedo black (Tsukineko); neon yellow, neon blue, neon purple, neon orange, neon pink, butter bar (Hero Arts)

Here’s the sketch:

One Layer Card No. 38: Just for you

2013-09-19 One Layer Card Just for you
I finally got to use my new Memento markers and I love ’em! To create a watercolor effect, I spritzed a little water on the rubber stamp after I colored it with the markers. It was nice to create a one layer card again :-)

Stamp: shadow background, flowers (Hero Arts); sentiment (Heidi Grace Designs); dotted border wood stamp
Inks: tuxedo black (Memento)
Other: bamboo leaves, grape jelly, lulu lavender, tangelo, dandelion (Memento Markers)

Oh yeah, and this card is another one I made for CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge #41. Here’s the sketch:

CAS Card No. 37: Beautiful forever

2013-08-18 Beautiful forever
Here’s a CAS card I made for the Week 133 Round and Round challenge at Less is More. The challenge is to create a card using images with wheels or parts that move round and round.

Stamp: sentiment (7Gypsies, Hampton Art); clock background (Docrafts)
Inks: tuxedo black (Memento); coffee (Ranger Archival ink); vintage photo (Tim Holtz Distress ink)
Other: white cardstock (Hammermill); kraft notecard; black enamel accents (Inkssentials)

Here are the steps for creating this CAS card:

1. Trim white cardstock to size (slightly smaller than 4″ by 5.5″).

2. With post-it notes, mask the top and bottom areas of cardstock. Stamp clock background on exposed area.

3. Lightly sponge distress ink over stamped image then remove post-it notes.

4. Stamp “BEAUTIFUL”. Stamp alpha stamps to spell “forever”.

5. Adhere card stock to card base.

6. Add 3 black enamel dots to finish off the card.
