Paper craft project no. 316: Merry Christmas one layer card

Hey, everyone! We have a new challenge this week at The Crafter’s Cafe Challenge. Our theme this week is…yep, you guessed it — Christmas! I used the holly square digi provided by our sponsor, Eureka Stamps, to create my one layer card. I printed the image on cardstock, colored it with Chameleon pens, then trimmed the cardstock to size. I masked the image before stamping the poinsettias and sentiment. I applied a bit of green shabby shutters Distress ink along the edges to finish the card. I hope you’ll come check out the projects that my teammates created and then play along. I should also mention that this is my last project for the team, as I decided it’s time to step down. I’m sure I’ll be playing in the challenges, though, because it’s a great place to play and my teammates are simply awesome! :o)

Linking my card to these fun challenges: (1) Addicted to Stamps and More #125 – Photo Inspiration (I was inspired by the red, green, and gold); (2) Paper Creators Crafts #33 – All About Christmas; and (3) Crafty Cardmakers and more #129 – Christmas.

Paper craft project no. 297: 4 cards = Shery loves doilies!

I’m a one layer card girl at heart, but I gotta say that the doilies from SRM Stickers had me hooked! Once I started using them, I couldn’t stop at just one card. I hope you’ll come check out the SRM Stickers blog where my cards are featured today.

Exhibit A: Simple But Elegant

So this is card #1. I thought I’d do a simple card first and because you know me and layers…we don’t go along well! (Besides, I had to channel my inner Nonni for this batch of cards. That girl can be the poster girl for doilies because the cards she makes with them are simply gorgeous…like this one here.)  I used an SRM White Heart Lace Doily. I thought it was perfect to use for a love or wedding themed card. I placed the doily on the bottom left corner of the card, trimmed the edges, and rounded the corner. I was after a clean look so I kept the design uncluttered and simple using the white stitches in the Sticker Stitches/ChristmasStickers by the Dozen/Wedding, and Fancy Sentiment/Love.

Exhibit B: Clean And Graphic

Card #1 got my me all happy that I decided to step it up a bit on card #2 and add a little layer. I also wanted a clean and graphic look, so I stamped a newsprint stamp on my card base in brown ink and adhered Sticker Stitches/Christmas on either side. I adhered the labels with the fishtails in the Labels by the Dozen/Bright Blank then adhered the 4″ white lace doily on top and trimmed it to the edge of the card. Next, I took a large 2.5″ white scalloped circle punch piece, added a sentiment from the Fancy Sentiments/Thanks, adhered it onto the doily, and trimmed. I finished the card by adding black stitching from the Sticker Stitches/Black.

Exhibit C: Clean And Simple for Fall

As for card #3, I decided to create a fall-themed card so I went with fall colors of yellow, orange and red. I stamped the newsprint and leaves on the card base and added black stitching from the Sticker Stitches/Black. I layered two scalloped circle punched pieces (2.5″ and 2″) and added a sentiment from the Sentiment/Fall. I cut a 4″ white lace doily in half, folded each half, and adhered on the back of either side of the layered punch pieces.

Exhibit D: Freestyle Collage

And now we come to card #4. This is the card that took me the longest to put together. I spent 45 minutes auditioning the different elements and I kept bugging DH and showing him different looks. Being the ever helpful husband, he gave encouraging comments (“That looks pretty, dear.” “I like the color of that butterfly.” “I don’t know what that thing is that’s sticking out, but I say keep it.” “How much longer are you going to take? It looks great already. I’m hungry.”) accompanied by glazed, helpless looks. The 6″ white lace doily was the perfect background for all the diecuts I found in my stash. First I stamped a newsprint background stamp in black ink on the card base and then added white cross-stitch stickers from the Sticker Stitches/Christmas around the edge. I adhered the doily, trimmed it, and then added black cross-stitch stickers. I went through my stash of diecuts and just layered the different elements onto the doily. I used a label from the Labels by the Dozen/Black & White and adhered it on the card base. I finished the card by adding a sentiment from the Sentiment/Thinking of You.

Linking card #4 to these fun challenges: Crafting by Designs November Challenge – Anything Goes; Simon Says Monday Challenge – Good ‘ol Days (the diecuts from K&Company that I used have been in my stash for at least 4 years); and Mod Squad Challenge – Grandma’s Attic (Doily).

Hope you enjoyed my little parade of cards. And I’d love it if you could stop by the SRM Stickers blog. There are oodles and oodles of fabulous projects and inspiration there! Thanks for stopping by!

Paper craft project no. 290: Hello CAS card

2014-10-29 Hello TCCCB

Hello! We have a new challenge at The Crafter’s Cafe Challenge blog. This week, our theme is “Things with wings.” I created a clean and simple card using the cute birdie image from our sponsor, QKR Stampede. I colored it with alcohol markers (Spectrum Noir and Chameleon Color Tones) and fussy cut it. I layered a couple of ATC size DPs on my card base and stamped the bold sentiment on one of them before sticking the bird on top with foam tape. Big stitch stickers from SRM Stickers are the perfect finishing touches. I hope you’ll come check us out and then join in on the fun!

Linking up my card to the following fun challenges: Addicted to Stamps and More #119 – Clean and Simple; Top Tip Tuesday Challenge – Chevrons; and Robyn’s Fetish Challenge #235 – Stitching (Real or Faux).

Paper craft project no. 230: Hello summer CAS card

2014-07-22 CAS Happy summer

It’s time for a new challenge at The Crafter’s Cafe Blog! It’s anything goes and we’ve got A Day for Daisies as our sponsor. I used their lemon bunch digi for my project. I printed it out on card stock, colored it with Spectrum Noir markers, fussy cut, and mounted it to my card base using foam tape. I stamped the brush stroke (Celebrate Artsy from STAMPlorations) in Memento pear tart ink along the bottom. I used fun stickers from SRM Stickers — Sticker Stitches (I thought the border mimicked the lemon) and Sentiment/Summer. Hope you’ll check out the blog and see what my teammates created using our sponsor’s images.

I’d like to enter my card to the following fun challenges: Shopping Our Stash #161 – Eat Five A Day (use fruit or vegetable images); Fan-Tastic Tuesday Challenge #45 – Anything Goes; Party Time Tuesdays #182 – July Anything Goes Challenge; Cards und More Challenge #111 – Summer Fun; and Through the Craft Room Door – Anything Goes.

Paper craft project no. 220: You had me at hello

2014-07-08 You had me at hello

This week at The Crafter’s Cafe Challenge blog, we’ve got an interesting challenge: use a line from your favorite flick. I have to confess, however, that Jerry Maguire is not my favorite movie. I haven’t even seen it (not a Tom Cruise fan) and I’m not in the least bit interested in seeing it…ever. So why did I pick that line then? Because it goes with the digi image that was provided by our sponsor, Eureka Stamps. My favorite movie of all time is 12 Angry Men (1957) and the line, “The burden of proof is on the prosecution. The defendant doesn’t even have to open his mouth. That’s in the Constitution” doesn’t really go with the heart bouquet image, ya know? So that famous Jerry Maguire line it is ;o)

For my card, I colored the heart bouquet with Spectrum Noir markers and fussy cut it. I partially stenciled the Reversed Chickenwire stencil (TCW) on my card base to ground my colored image (mounted using adhesive foam). I stamped the “hello” (from the Boxed Blooms and Bold Sentiments by STAMPlorations) and then hand-wrote the rest. I finished the card by applying Diamond stickles on the hearts so they sparkle.

A snippet of the convo DH and I had when I showed him the finished card:

DH: [after looking at the card] So did I have you at hello?
me: [thinking] Nah. You had me at hi.
DH: Oh, is that what I said the first time we met?
me: Yeah, and I remember feeling like I was going to pass out as I watched you walk toward me.
DH: Good thing you didn’t. I had my hands full with luggage.

Anyway, enough of the sappy stuff ;o)  I hope you’ll come visit the blog and check out the other projects that my teammates created for the challenge.

I’d like to enter my card to the following fun challenges: Addicted to Stamps and More #103 – Holiday (my card fits Valentine’s Day); CAS(E) This Sketch #83; and Crafting with Dragonflies #30 – CAS Card.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
