Paper craft project no. 311: Follow your bliss

Sharing a card I made this morning using a fun technique. I have a short photo tutorial over at the STAMPlorations blog if you’d like to see how I created the background.

Linking up my card to the following fun challenges: (1) Virginia’s View Challenge #10 – All Things Distressed (I used Distress inks and distressed the edges of the panel with the stamped sentiment); and (2) A Little Bit Crafty – Anything Goes…but not Christmas.

This card also doubles as a reminder for the current challenge at The Mixed Media Card Challenge. This month’s theme is “home” and the optional element is “lace”. The theme is pretty broad — and as you can see from my card, the theme is reflected in the sentiment: “doors” and “walls” are associated with “home” :o)

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful day :o)

Paper craft project no. 292: Merry Christmas CAS card + mixed media Christmas tag

2014-10-30 CAS Merry Christmas

I missed the last couple challenges at Less is More and all week I’ve been wanting to play in the current challenge, Recipe Week #195 – Newsprint. Found 10 minutes to squeeze this card in. I stamped the Christmas bells on gift wrapping paper that has a newsprint design and fussy cut it. I stamped the bells again on scrap cardstock, colored just the ribbon, poinsettia leaves, and berries with Chameleon Color Tones alcohol markers, and then cut out the bells. I paper-pieced this onto the newsprint bells. I stamped the snowflakes in HA soft pool ink before adhering the bells. I also stamped the sentiment along the bottom. I gave the berries some sparkle by applying a bit of crystal stickles on them and the card is done. Clean and simple, and best of all — quick! :o)

I’m entering my card to the following fun challenges: Festive Friday #43 (I was inspired by the bows/ribbons and red in the photo); Addicted to Stamps and More #119 – CAS (entry #2); Aud Sentiments #118 – 2- or 3-Word Sentiment; and Christmas at Sweet Stampin’ – Snowflakes.

Oh, and it’s my turn today to share a spotlight project at the STAMPlorations blog. I created several one layer mixed media Christmas tags and I’m sharing one of those tags. I’ve got a step-by-step photo tutorial here.

And lastly, I’m having a design team call for a new challenge that starts on January 6. If you enjoy making one layer cards and Christmas cards, please check it out here. If you know someone who’d be interested, please pass the info along and thank you in advance! :o)

Paper craft project no. 284: Christmas magic one layer card [with video tutorial]

OLC Christmas Magic

Hello! It’s my turn to share a project over at the STAMPlorations blog. This time, I’m sharing a one layer card featuring stamps from Joyful. In creating my card, I used 5 different techniques. Can you guess what those techniques are by looking at my card above? You can read more about my process in this post. Plus, if you leave a comment there, you could win some stamps :o)

I also have a video showing how I made this card from start to finish. It’s a shorty — just a little over 8 minutes, in fast-forward motion, captioned, and accompanied by some lively silent film music. Hope you enjoy it!

I’d like to enter my card to the following fun challenges: Addicted to Stamps and More #117: Make Your Mark (I used Spectrum Noir markers to color the sleigh; entry #2); Merry Monday #130 – Silent Night (I created a snowy night scene); Crafty Hazelnut’s Christmas Challenge Extra for October – Anything Goes; Deep Ocean Challenge #88 – Christmas in October; Simon Says Monday Challenge – O is for…One Layer; and Inky Chicks #40 – Christmas.

Thanks for stopping by!

Paper craft project nos. 260/261: Joy to the world one layer card / So adorable mixed media layout [with video tutorial]

2014-09-11 OLC Joy to the world

Hello, again! I’ve got a two-fer, and this is my last post for today (Thursday), promise :o) First up is a one layer Christmas card. It’s never too early to get started on those Christmas cards and that’s what I’ve been doing the last few weeks! Before we know it, Christmas is upon us, and I don’t want to be scrambling to make cards at the last minute. One layers are my absolute favorite cards to make, then there’s the fact that I really, really suck at layering actual papers and elements! I can be as elaborate (and spend as much as an hour making it) like what I did in this card here, or be as simple as I want (and spend 10 minutes or less) like what I did in my card above.
