Paper craft project no. 256: You’re special one layer card

2014-09-05 OLC You're special

Hello and it’s the first Friday of the month, which means we’ve got a brand new challenge at STAMPlorations! The theme for September is STAMPS & MARKERS. Pretty easy, huh? We’re joined by a super talented guest designer, Cris G.!  You’ve got to see the beautiful creations created by our guest designer and the STAMPlorations girls :o) We’ve got prizes and hey, you don’t even need to use STAMPlorations stamps in your projects to play with us, but we would be so thrilled to see projects with our stamps!

I went with yet another one layer card for my project. I masked the middle of my card base before stamping the daisy (Bloom Sketches) all over the top and bottom areas, masking as I went along. Next, I colored the flowers with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers. I also used Faber-Castell white PITT artist pen to add the highlights in the centers of the daisies. With a black Spectrum Noir marker, I created a thick border around the flowers. I finished the card by stamping the sweet sentiment.

Linking up my card to these fun challenges: Simon Says Monday Challenge – Boldly Go Into STAMPtember (I used a large flower stamp and used a bright bold color to create my card); Crafty Girls Challenge #26 – Anything Goes; and Lawnscaping Challenge – One Layer .

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Paper craft project no. 199: Celebrate one layer card

2014-06-05 OLC Celebrate

It’s the first Friday of June, which means it’s time for a new monthly challenge at the STAMPlorations blog! The theme this month is STAMPS & BORDERS. Joining us as guest designer is the uber-talented Kim of Art Keeps Me Sane. Please check out her project, as well as the projects that the STAMPlorations girls created. You’ll be feasting on some serious eye candy! We’ve got prizes up for grabs: participate in all 3 challenges we host this month and you can win 3 Tim Holtz layering stencils. Win our monthly challenge and you get to choose 2 STAMPlorations stamp sets (if you use a STAMPlorations stamp in your winning entry) or 1 STAMPlorations stamp set (if your winning entry doesn’t have a STAMPlorations stamp) — either way, you get stamps! ;o)

For my DT card, I went with a one layer card. The stamps I used are all new — they’re part of the July release (preview all 6 stamp sets here) and in a few weeks, we’ll have a blog hop! I couldn’t wait to ink these up when they came the other day. The artsy brush stroke is from the VIGNETTE: Celebrate Artsy set, while the sentiments are from the SENTIMENT BUILDERS: Celebrate set. I stamped the brush stroke in Memento inks (love letter, tangelo, and cantaloupe). The big “celebrate” I stamped in Memento tuxedo black. I used the small “celebrate” as a border and stamped it in Memento love letter. I finished the card with some shiny gold sequins.

I based the layout of my card on CAS(E) this Sketch #79. I’m also linking up my card to CASology #98, where this week’s cue word is “Shine” (I’ve got shiny sequins in my card) and Less is More Lucky Dip Week #174 – Use More than One Stamp (I used 3 different stamps).

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful weekend!

Paper craft project no. 154: Tulips and butterflies for mom [with video tutorial]

2014-03-06 Tulips and butterflies for Mom
Hello, everyone! Here I am again with another one layer mixed media card. I used Memento dye inks, acrylic paint, gesso, and Derwent Inktense Blocks, and I used watercoloring techniques. I’m thrilled about this card because I managed to shoot a video of it in one take! (I didn’t have time to really plan out the steps because I only had an hour until I needed to go to town with DH and MIL so I had to hurry up and basically wing most of it.) Last night, while I was playing with watercolors on my sketch book, I accidentally found an easy way to paint tulips. You’re going to have to watch the video to see, though ;o) It took about 25 minutes to create this card, but the video is a fast-forward version like the previous videos I did for my other one layer mixed media cards (you’ll find them all here). This one’s just under 10 minutes, captioned, and accompanied by another Mozart. Watch the YouTube video tutorial HERE. I hope you enjoy it and become inspired by it!

And…it’s the first Friday of March, which means it’s time for a new monthly challenge on the STAMPlorations blog! Our theme this month is STAMPS & SPRING, so we’d love to see spring-inspired projects. Check out the inspiration projects that the STAMPlorations girls created for the challenge and then come join us! We’re joined by guest designer, Doerthe.
