Happy Monday, friends! Can you believe October is coming to a an end in 11 days? Where’d the month go? Anyway, it is time for a new sketch challenge over at the STAMPlorations blog. Here’s the sketch:
Pretty simple, huh? Lots of possibilities in that one. Joining us in this challenge as guest designer is Leslie of The Crooked Stamper. You gotta see her awesome take on the sketch! Then there are the STAMPlorations girls and their projects — come check them out because we have a wonderful array of projects that are sure to inspire! We’d love for you to come play with us! You don’t have to use STAMPlorations stamps to play, but if you have them, we get really happy to see projects featuring our stamps :o)
For my card, I went with a Christmas card with a hint of vintage. This is one of those cards where I didn’t know how it was going to turn out. I started with a Pink Paislee paper with a vintage Christmas design — trimmed it to size, die-cut an oval in the middle using a Lil’ Inker die, embossed with a Sizzix poinsettia EF, distressed the edges, and sponged with bright green shade PanPastel and VersaMagic gingerbread chalk ink. I stamped the Christmas block in VersaMark ink before sponging it with permanent red shade PanPastel. Next I stamped the poinsettia on a pre-cut diecut of the stamp in Memento tuxedo black ink and colored it with Spectrum Noir markers. I toned down my DP background by laying a piece of white vellum on it before adhering the poinsettia using foam tape. I thought about adding a sentiment but decided against it since my background already had text in it. I simply finished the card by spattering antique bronze Distress paint because I thought the vellum was looking a little boring :o)
My card is also a reminder for The Mixed Media Card Challenge — we’re looking for vintage-inspired mixed media cards this month, with key as an optional element. The challenge closes on October 25 so there’s still time to play with us over there! Don’t think you can do a mixed media card? It isn’t as hard as you think! Here’s our definition of a mixed media card as it pertains to our challenge.
Linking up my card to these 3 fun challenges: Festive 48 – Week 41 (Any Christmas Card Goes); Sister Act Card Challenge #79 – Anything Goes; Simon Says Monday Challenge – Anything Goes; and Craftyhazelnut’s Patterned Paper October challenge – Anything Goes (I used PP from the City Sidewalks pack by Pink Paislee).
Thanks for stopping by! Hope you have a wonderful week!
