Happy Sunday! I’m starting off the week with my project for 613 Avenue Create. It’s anything goes but we’ve got an optional twist: create your own challenge with our chart. I don’t do so well with this kind of twist, but surprisingly, I was able to create a card using at least 1 item from every column — image, sentiment, glossy accents, flowers, and burlap/ribbon :o)
To make my card, I stamped a newsprint background stamp (Hero Arts) in coffee archival ink on white cardstock panel. Then I inked up an embossing folder with Distress inks, spritzed it with water, and placed the panel inside it to transfer the ink. (I recently did a photo tutorial using this fun technique and you’ll find it here.) I sponged Distress inks on the panel, ran my TH distressing tool along the edges, and inked it up with coffee archival ink. I added a strip of burlap ribbon on to one side before adhering the panel on my card base. For the main image, I used an image from our sponsor, Digital Delights, and used Japanese watercolor brush pens to color. I stamped my sentiment in black ink and added glossy accents on the word “Live.” And my card is done. I hope you’ll come check out the beautiful projects my teammates created this week and play along too! We’d love to see you in the ‘hood! :o)
Linking up my card to these fun challenges: (1) Sister Act Card Challenge #86 – Anything Goes and (2) Word Art Wednesday #161 – Anything Goes.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
August 3, 2014
It’s a brand new challenge at 613 Avenue Create this week! It’s Anything Goes with the optional twist of “Friendship” because August 3 is National Friendship Day :o) We’ve got two fabulous sponsors, Digital Delights by Louby Lou and Lacy Sunshine. Please check out the blog and see what my lovely teammates created with images provided by our generous sponsors! And we’d love it if you’d share something you make for a friend…or anything else really!
For my CAS card, I used the sweet Thank You Flowerpot image by Digital Delights. I printed the image on card stock, colored with Spectrum Noir markers, and fussy cut it. I’ve been on a stamp-carving kick and haven’t been able to put down my lino cutter the last week or so. (It’s been therapeutic with my having to deal with allergies, though the DH has had to make sure my meds have worn out a bit to leave me clear headed enough to be able to handle sharp objects hehe!) I stamped one of my hand-carved stamps in Memento bahama blue ink along the bottom of my card. I thought it might work as funky patio tiles or something for my flowerpot. I stamped it twice without re-inking to get the dark blue/light blue effect. I mounted my image using foam tape. I finished the card by stamping the rest of the sentiment (from the Sentiment Builders: Thank You set). And the card is done :o)
I’d like to enter my card to these fun challenges: Inkspirational Challenge #62 – Designer’s Choice (use markers or pencils); Crafting at the Weekend Challenge #4 – Anything Goes; and Send a Smile 4 Kids – Clean & Simple.
Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope your weekend was a great one. Have a wonderful new week ahead!
