Paper craft project no. 291: Tears of joy one layer card

2014-10-30 OLC Tears of Joy TO Reminder Card

Quickie post for today, friends! I’ve been nursing a nasty cold for close to a week now and have started to feel a bit better. I’m hoping to finally catch up on things today and tomorrow — my to-do list is a mile long but I think I’ll be thrilled if I could cross off at least 5 things there today. Wish me luck! :o)

My one layer card today is to remind you that there’s a week left to join us at Time Out Challenges! We’re doing an Inspired by Words challenge — “Birds of a feather flock together.” So for my card, I took a feather stencil (TCW) and sponged Memento grape jelly over it and simply stamped one of the new inspirational quotes stamps from the Typografia by STAMPlorations. The card didn’t need any embellishments, I don’t think, and it’s one of those cards you can put on stand-by and send to someone who may need some encouraging.

I’m linking up my card to these fun challenges: CAS on Sunday #45 – One Layer Wonder; 4 Crafty Chicks – Crazy Egg (Anything Goes); and Deep Ocean Challenge #89 – Just One Layer.

Thanks for stopping by!

Paper craft project no. 284: Christmas magic one layer card [with video tutorial]

OLC Christmas Magic

Hello! It’s my turn to share a project over at the STAMPlorations blog. This time, I’m sharing a one layer card featuring stamps from Joyful. In creating my card, I used 5 different techniques. Can you guess what those techniques are by looking at my card above? You can read more about my process in this post. Plus, if you leave a comment there, you could win some stamps :o)

I also have a video showing how I made this card from start to finish. It’s a shorty — just a little over 8 minutes, in fast-forward motion, captioned, and accompanied by some lively silent film music. Hope you enjoy it!

I’d like to enter my card to the following fun challenges: Addicted to Stamps and More #117: Make Your Mark (I used Spectrum Noir markers to color the sleigh; entry #2); Merry Monday #130 – Silent Night (I created a snowy night scene); Crafty Hazelnut’s Christmas Challenge Extra for October – Anything Goes; Deep Ocean Challenge #88 – Christmas in October; Simon Says Monday Challenge – O is for…One Layer; and Inky Chicks #40 – Christmas.

Paper craft project no. 272: Glad tidings

2014-09-25 Glad Tidings - A

It’s my turn to do a spotlight project at STAMPlorations, and this time I have two Christmas cards to share. These cards are quick and easy to make — the kind of cards I like to make for when I know I need a LOT of them. I used stamps from the September releaseHoliday Sketches: Christmas Flower, Vignette: Christmas Block, and Sentiment Builders: Christmas & New Year — as well as VersaMark watermark ink, ColorBox Midnight Mix’d Media Inx Chox, DCWV textured card stock, PanPastel Colors, and stickles. Check out the photo tutorial for these cards here.

I’d like to enter my cards to the following fun challenges: Simon Says Wednesday Challenge – Anything Goes; Simon Says Monday Challenge – Stencils & Stamps (I went with stamps); Addicted to Stamps and More #114 – CAS; ABC Christmas Challenge – S for Something Festive; Deep Ocean Challenge #87 – At Least One Flower; Christmas Stampin’ All Year Long #29 – Use Lots of Layers [I’ve got 4 layers — which, for this one-layer girl, is a LOT! ;o)]; and Crafting by Designs – Get Ready for Christmas.

Thanks for stopping by!

Paper craft project no. 244: Be Merry + a Mixed Media Canvas with video tutorial

2014-08-14 OLC Be merry

Hello!  I’d like to share a one layer card I made for the current challenge at Time Out. There’s a little under a week left to enter your creations as inspired by this awesome card by Anita, our guest designer. While my first card here was inspired by the colors in Anita’s card, my card today was inspired by the layout, specifically the embossed geometric aqua/teal/turquoise panel on her card. If you’re inspired by Anita’s card, we hope you’ll share it with us at Time Out!

To make my card, I first stamped the image (Holiday Sketches: Christmas Candles set from STAMPlorations) on my card base. I stamped it again on a post-it note, fussy cut, and placed it over the stamped image as a mask. Next, I stamped the border (Vignette: Art Deco Border Builders set) on the right in VersaMagic chalk inks. Then I sponged some yellow around the candles. I removed the mask and colored the image with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers. I stamped the sentiment (from the same holiday set) in VersaMagic chalk ink (midnight black). I finished the card by rounding the bottom corners.

I’d like to enter my card to these fun challenges: Addicted to Stamps and More #109 – CAS; Deep Ocean Challenge #85 – Christmas in August; Penny’s Paper Crafty Challenge 191 – Christmas, Children, or Critters; Wonderful Wednesday – Anything Goes; Stamps & Fun = Creativity – Christmas in Summer; Simon Says Monday Challenge – Anything Goes; and Lady Crafts Ink TLT Challenge – CAS.

And before I go, I’d like to share a simple canvas I did last week when I found a roll of gift wrapping paper. It was my extra spotlight project over at STAMPlorations. I used stamps from the newly released Bloom Sketches, as well as from the Mini Mixed Media Backgrounds set. I’ve got a video showing how I did it from start to finish too. It’s 7 minutes, 38 seconds long — done in my usual style: in fast-forward motion, captioned, and accompanied by Mozart. Hope you enjoy it!
