Paper craft project no. 301: Hello you

2014-11-16 Hello you

Hello! Popping by to share a card I made for the current challenge at 613 Avenue Create. It’s anything goes with the optional twist to use “hello” in any language — because it’s World Hello Day on November 21 :o)

To create my hello card, I stamped a newspaper background on a cardstock panel. I inked up a Sizzix embossing folder with Distress inks, gave it a light spritz of water, and then placed the panel in the folder to transfer the ink. After the panel dried, I sponged Distress inks all over. On pre-cut diecuts, I stamped the daisies three times, colored them with Spectrum Noir markers, and adhered them to my panel. I stamped the sentiment in black ink and adhered the panel to the card base. And the card is done.

Linking up my card to the following fun challenges: (1) Crafts Galore Encore Challenge – Anything Goes; (2) Addicted to Stamps and More #121 – Anything Goes; and (3) Sisters of Craft – Anything Goes.

Thanks for stopping by!

Paper craft project no. 297: 4 cards = Shery loves doilies!

I’m a one layer card girl at heart, but I gotta say that the doilies from SRM Stickers had me hooked! Once I started using them, I couldn’t stop at just one card. I hope you’ll come check out the SRM Stickers blog where my cards are featured today.

Exhibit A: Simple But Elegant

SRM Stickers Blog - Doily Love by Shery - #cards #doilies #stickers

So this is card #1. I thought I’d do a simple card first and because you know me and layers…we don’t go along well! (Besides, I had to channel my inner Nonni for this batch of cards. That girl can be the poster girl for doilies because the cards she makes with them are simply gorgeous…like this one here.)  I used an SRM White Heart Lace Doily. I thought it was perfect to use for a love or wedding themed card. I placed the doily on the bottom left corner of the card, trimmed the edges, and rounded the corner. I was after a clean look so I kept the design uncluttered and simple using the white stitches in the Sticker Stitches/ChristmasStickers by the Dozen/Wedding, and Fancy Sentiment/Love.

Exhibit B: Clean And Graphic

SRM Stickers Blog - Doily Love by Shery - #cards #doilies #stickers

Card #1 got my me all happy that I decided to step it up a bit on card #2 and add a little layer. I also wanted a clean and graphic look, so I stamped a newsprint stamp on my card base in brown ink and adhered Sticker Stitches/Christmas on either side. I adhered the labels with the fishtails in the Labels by the Dozen/Bright Blank then adhered the 4″ white lace doily on top and trimmed it to the edge of the card. Next, I took a large 2.5″ white scalloped circle punch piece, added a sentiment from the Fancy Sentiments/Thanks, adhered it onto the doily, and trimmed. I finished the card by adding black stitching from the Sticker Stitches/Black.

Exhibit C: Clean And Simple for Fall

SRM Stickers Blog - Doily Love by Shery - #cards #doilies #stickers

As for card #3, I decided to create a fall-themed card so I went with fall colors of yellow, orange and red. I stamped the newsprint and leaves on the card base and added black stitching from the Sticker Stitches/Black. I layered two scalloped circle punched pieces (2.5″ and 2″) and added a sentiment from the Sentiment/Fall. I cut a 4″ white lace doily in half, folded each half, and adhered on the back of either side of the layered punch pieces.

Exhibit D: Freestyle Collage

And now we come to card #4. This is the card that took me the longest to put together. I spent 45 minutes auditioning the different elements and I kept bugging DH and showing him different looks. Being the ever helpful husband, he gave encouraging comments (“That looks pretty, dear.” “I like the color of that butterfly.” “I don’t know what that thing is that’s sticking out, but I say keep it.” “How much longer are you going to take? It looks great already. I’m hungry.”) accompanied by glazed, helpless looks. The 6″ white lace doily was the perfect background for all the diecuts I found in my stash. First I stamped a newsprint background stamp in black ink on the card base and then added white cross-stitch stickers from the Sticker Stitches/Christmas around the edge. I adhered the doily, trimmed it, and then added black cross-stitch stickers. I went through my stash of diecuts and just layered the different elements onto the doily. I used a label from the Labels by the Dozen/Black & White and adhered it on the card base. I finished the card by adding a sentiment from the Sentiment/Thinking of You.

Linking card #4 to these fun challenges: Crafting by Designs November Challenge – Anything Goes; Simon Says Monday Challenge – Good ‘ol Days (the diecuts from K&Company that I used have been in my stash for at least 4 years); and Mod Squad Challenge – Grandma’s Attic (Doily).

Hope you enjoyed my little parade of cards. And I’d love it if you could stop by the SRM Stickers blog. There are oodles and oodles of fabulous projects and inspiration there! Thanks for stopping by!

Paper craft project no. 270: Thanks mixed media card

2014-09-22 Thanks mixed media card

Short and sweet post today (because I’m [still] dealing with nasty allergies, sorely lacking sleep, and neck-deep with work I gotta finish). My card is for The Mixed Media Card Challenge – there’s 3 more days left to play and create an autumn-inspired mixed media card. (Click here for our definition of a mixed media card.) We have Add A Little Dazzle sponsoring us this month and I just love their craft metal sheets! If you create an autumn-inspired mixed media card with the optional element (metal or leaves or both), you get a chance to win a $15 gift certificate to use towards products in the AALD Boutique.

Paper craft project no. 227: Let’s celebrate you

2014-07-18 Let's celebrate you

This is my first ever shaker card!!! And the sequins inside move when you shake the card — LOL! Okay, I’m going to write a calmer (and more coherent) post later on…but I just wanted to post this project before the current Virginia’s View Challenge ends, which is like…less than 3 hours from now!

DH and I have to run to town to drop packages in the mail and then work out for a bit. He has been waiting patiently while I worked on this card and he made himself busy — he cleaned my scissors (all 8 of them), installed another monitor on my desk, and started backing up my main computer. And when I saw the clock and realized it was taking me longer than I’d anticipated:

me: Oh, no. I’m so sorry, dear. We’re not going to be able to leave at 5:30..
DH: That’s okay. It’s not a set time.
me: We’re not going to have much time to work out at the gym…[frantically working my Cuttlebug]
DH: Don’t worry about it, dear. Finish what you’re working on. That’s important to you.

Am I a blessed girl or what? Okay, gotta go!! Be back later to edit this post and describe how I put it all together.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great weekend!

Paper craft project no. 211: Baby girl clean and layered card

2014-06-24 CAL Baby girl

It’s a brand new challenge over at The Crafter’s Cafe Challenge blog! Our sponsor this week is The Stamping Boutique. I hope you’ll stop by the blog and see the projects that my teammates made and then join us :o)

For my project, I used the cute little girl with stroller image. I colored the image with Spectrum Noir markers and then I fussy cut it. I layered a couple of patterned papers from Authentique. I also used used some SRM products: large and medium scalloped punched pieces, and stickers from the Sentiment/Baby (51002) and We’ve Got Your Border/Baby Girl (57003). Except for the time it took to color the image, this card was a quick and fun one to put together.

I’d like to enter my card to the following fun challenges: Addicted to Stamps and More #101 – Anything GoesCrafting from the Heart #24 – Anything Goes, and The Card Concept #13 – Oh Baby! (my card is clean and layered).

Thanks for stopping by!

Paper craft project no. 209: Mom and baby pink card

2014-06-20 Mom and baby 613 Avenue

It’s anything goes this week at 613 Avenue Create with the optional twist to use pink since June 23 is National Pink Day. (I didn’t know about that!)  We’ve got 4 sponsors this week. For my project, I used a sweet image from HannaLynnArt. I stamped a subway art style background (MOM Subway Art Builders from STAMPlorations) in pink, adhered a pink textured cardstock strip (from DCWV) to the bottom, and then adhered the fussy cut image of mom and baby. Hope you’ll check out the neighborhood, take a peek at the projects by my teammates, and share your creations (with or without pink)!

I’d like to enter my card to these fun challenges: Scribble and Scrap #21 – Anything Goes; Crafts Galore Encore Challenge – Use a Stamp or Digi Stamp (I used both); and Sisters of Craft – Anything Goes.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a super week!
