Paper craft project no. 317: Enjoy today one layer card

Hello! Here’s a quickie post to remind you that we’re mid-way through the current challenge at Time Out, where we’re CASEing a card made by the super-talented Amy Wanford. For my card, I went all red (!) — it’s my way of trying to get over the winter blues. Even though winter doesn’t officially start until December 23, I’ve been feeling it for the last 3 weeks. I’m not liking the gray days and foggy days at all, and I am missing the sun way too much! And so the cards I’ve been making lately have bright colors :o)

How I CASEd Amy’s card: sentiment (big and small combo), focal image (butterfly instead of a cloud), border (red border with a painterly look)
My twist: non-wintery, bright red colors, and one layer…of course!

The stamps I used are all from STAMPlorations – The grungy splashes and ink blots are from Holiday Artsy and the graphic butterfly and sentiment are from the newly released Trendy Butterflies (it’s a set that stamp club subscribers get for free!)

Let it Snow

Paper craft project no. 315: You’re a sweetheart one layer card

It’s a great Monday morning, folks! I have been up since 8 last night (I’m on a weird schedule) and DH and I should be well on our way to town by the time this post is published. I haven’t been out much in the last couple of weeks because of work, school, and my weird sleep schedule, and this week, I’m trying to get turned around and at the same time get a bit of sunshine. I’m dropping packages in the mail and then we’re headed to do some grocery shopping. After that, we’re having a little lunch date at our favorite Thai restaurant (I can almost taste that vegetarian pad thai…). Keeping my fingers crossed I’ll be awake enough to enjoy lunch ;o)

Anyway, this one layer card is to remind you that there’s a little less than 3 weeks left to play in the last sketch challenge at STAMPlorations. Linky is open until December 28, you can link up as many projects as you want (instead of the usual 3 projects max) as long as they’re based on the sketch, and you can win one of two gift certificates!

I made my card by first stamping the butterflies (from the Trendy Butterflies set) in different shades of blue. I masked the big butterfly then stamped the leaves (from the Trendy Leaves set) in different shades of green. Then with a TCW reversed chicken wire stencil, I sponged broken china Distress ink for a bit of interest and then stamped the sentiment (from the Sugar Rush set) in black. Finished the card by rounding the bottom right corner. As you can see, I flipped the sketch and used butterflies instead of circles :o)

Paper craft project no. 313: Joyful

Hey! We’ve got the last challenge for the year over at STAMPlorations. The theme is pretty easy: stamps and any of our past challenges. Our monthly challenges are here and the sketch challenges are here. Our guest designer is the super-talented LauraJane. I hope you’ll check out the blog to see the beautiful makes by our guest designer and the STAMPlorations girls. The winner (voted by the design team) gets to be our guest designer in February. She’ll also win stamps — 2 stamp sets if STAMPlorations stamps were used in the winning entry; 1 stamp set if no STAMPlorations stamps were used.

As for my project, I went with two past challenges (September Challenge: Stamps & Markers and October Challenge: Stamps & Embossing). I used a chevron embossing folder to emboss a cardstock panel. Then I swiped various Distress inks (mustard seed, shabby shutters, spiced marmalade, fired brick) over the raised areas and stamped the Christmas word block in brown archival ink to create interest and texture onto the inked areas. On pre-cut diecut, I stamped the poinsettia and colored it with Chameleon Color Tones alcohol markers. I cut a fishtail banner from scrap cardstock and stamped the sentiment.

I’d like to link my card to these fun challenges: (1) Virginia’s View Challenge #10 – All Things Distressed (my 3rd entry; I hope Virginia doesn’t get tired of my entries this month — I’m trying to make up for missing last month’s challenge because of work and school!); (2) Simon Says Wednesday Challenge – Christmas/Holidays; (3) CASology #124 – Old (the Distress inks I’ve used are the ones I’ve had since 2009 — they’re still good after all these years, thanks to my bottle of ink refresher!); and (4) Kylie’s Christmas Card Challenge.

Oh, and we’re having a design team call at STAMPlorations. We’re looking to have a few more creative girls join the challenge team. You’ll find all the details here.

Thanks for stopping by! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Paper craft project no. 312: You’re a dear friend one layer card

Hello! It’s time for a new challenge at Time Out Challenges and this time, we’re doing the CASE with Your Own Twist Challenge. We’re CASEing the talented Amy Wanford of Crafting Confessions. Here’s the card she made:

I was inspired by the two rows of snowflakes and hearts, as well as the sentiment so I went with that and stamped the butterfly in turquoise and the flower in pink. The sentiment is from the new stamp club set at STAMPlorations called Sugar Rush and I stamped it in black. I finished the card with an artsy border using a pink Japanese watercolor brush pen. So my twist is pretty obvious: a non-winter/holiday one layer card :o) I hope you’ll come check out what my teammates created and how they were inspired by Amy’s card! We’re joined by another talented crafter, Milla of Mustesormi. We can’t wait to see how you’ll CASE Amy’s card!

Thanks for stopping by!

Paper craft project no. 307: Believe CAS card

Hello! I’m popping by with a quickie post to share a card while my vegan pumpkin pies are baking :o) I began by masking the upper third of my card base. I stamped the Christmas word block in Versamark ink all over the bottom then applied red PanPastel. I adhered a strip of metallic gold vellum and stamped the sentiment. On pre-cut diecut, I stamped the Christmas candles and colored them with Spectrum Noir markers then adhered them to my card using foam tape. And the card is done :o)

My card fits a few fun challenges: (1) Less Is More #199 – Jingle All The Way; (2) Christmas Stampin’ All Year Long – Anything Goes; (3) Winter Wonderland Challenge – Let’s Get Sentimental; and (4) Crafty Hazelnut’s Christmas Challenge Extra – Anything Goes.

Thanks for stopping by!

Paper craft project no. 306: Sweet friend one layer card

It’s time for a new sketch challenge at the STAMPlorations blog. It’s the last sketch challenge for the year and we’re making it a long one! The linky is open until December 28 and there’s no limit to how many times you can play. Oh, and we have a couple of extra special prizes too! Julie Beech of Crafted by Jules is our guest designer. I hope you’ll come check out the projects that Julie and the STAMPlorations girls made for the sketch!

For my one layer card, I stamped one of the trendy butterflies (new set!) and masked it before stamping the artsy sunflower and smaller butterfly. The sentiment is from Sugar Rush, the December/January stamp club set. I spattered a bit of mustard seed and faded jeans Distress inks and finished the card by running the side of my Japanese watercolor brush pen to create the artsy blue border. The card is rather bright for the season — and I did it because I was getting a little tired of the gloomy days and I needed something with bright, happy colors :o)

Linking up my card to these fun challenges: (1) Crafting When We Can #83 – Clean and Simple; (2) A Little Bit Crafty – CAS; (3) Sister Act #84 – Anything Goes; and (4) Clear It Out – Anything Goes.

Thanks for stopping by!

Paper craft project no. 305: Smile

It’s a brand new week at 613 Avenue Create. As always, our challenge are Anything Goes with the optional twist. This time, the twist is to use subway art. We have two fab sponsors: Lacy Sunshine and Beansie Doodles. For my project, I used the cute Christmas Boo image from Lacy Sunshine. I decided to use her in a non-Christmas card and so I colored her in non-Christmas colors as well :o) I printed the image on cardstock, colored with Spectrum Noir and Chameleon alcohol markers, and fussy cut. On my card base, I stamped the bold sentiment in different chalk inks before adhering the image in the center. I hope you’ll come check out the awesome projects that my teammates created, and then join us this week :o)

I’d like to link up my card to the following fun challenges: (1) Send A Smile 4 Kids – Anything Goes 4 Kids; (2) Ladybug Crafts – Bright Colors; and (3) A Crafty Mess #1 – Anything Goes.

Thanks for stopping by!
