One Layer Card No. 12: Smile

2013-07-20 One Layer Card Smile

A2 card using stenciling and layer stamping techniques.

Stamp: sentiment (TPC Studio)
Inks: emerald green, chrome yellow, sienna, jet black (Ranger Archival inks)

A little note about this one layer card: I came across the CAS(E) this Sketch blog last night as I was searching for inspiration for my next one layer card. I fell in love with the blog! Found out that there’s a challenge so I thought I’d give it a try. This is my card for CAS(e) this Sketch #37. There are already so many awesome cards submitted for this challenge — waaayyy too many creative ladies out there!

To create my one layer card, I punched a 1-inch square on a piece of transparency and I used this as a stencil, sponging chrome yellow in the squares. Next, I had some left over sequin waste that had those tiny star designs. I laid the transparency over each of the squares, placed the sequin waste over it and sponged over with sienna and emerald green archival inks. Last, I stamped the sentiment.

Here’s the sketch:

Edited to add:  I’m also entering this card to the Birthday Card Challenge in the Moxie Fab World :-)

    • Thank you, Karolyn! I loved CAS(E) This Sketch the first minute I saw it and I just had to try my hand at a challenge (haven’t done one before so I’m new at the cardmaking challenges) — it helped that there were already so many great cards for me to look at and draw inspiration from. I love stenciling and I’ve been using it mainly in my mixed media artworks but thought I’d use it in my cards now too. Have a wonderful day and I’m off to make cards for the next CAS(E) This Sketch challenge — it’s another great sketch :-)
